Filling in blanks this piece left open, now that Alphabet's 10-Q has answered them. The MD&A attributes the $99.0 billion gain to "SpaceX and a private company." The notes split it: $21.4 billion unrealized on marketable securities, $77.5 billion on non-marketable, with $87.9 billion of private holdings remeasured in the quarter, primarily at Level 2. SpaceX is named with its restriction schedule to the dollar, $80.0 billion short-term and $14.1 billion through the third quarter of 2027. The private company is not named, but its mark now has a filed ceiling. Beyond the gain, and also not in the release: $707.0 billion of purchase commitments (Note 10), $85.2 billion of leases signed but not yet commenced (Note 4), and backstops with maximum potential future payments of $7.6 billion in guarantees and $43.8 billion in credit derivatives, plus an estimated $24.1 billion more agreed for data-center and energy build-out. One correction to the piece itself, and it is ours: we wrote that the quarterly filing follows in early August. It was filed July 23. Everything above is from it.
